Foreign Investment Drives Automation Upgrade in Indonesia's Casting Industry, Surge in Demand for Smart Casting Equipment
As multinational corporations like Moderna, Tesla, and Panasonic intensify investments in Indonesia, their supply chains now demand high-precision, high-consistency castings, accelerating local foundries' transition toward smart, automated production.
Numerous SME foundries have begun importing automatic molding lines, robotic pouring systems, and in-line inspection equipment from China. Customs data shows China's exports of casting equipment to Indonesia reached ¥110 million in 2024, with the first five months of 2025 already exceeding ¥120 million (+40% YoY).
Industry analysts note: "Indonesia's casting sector is at a critical juncture between traditional manual processes and semi-/fully automated systems. The next three years will see a peak in smart equipment adoption."
